'A large herd of Buffalo were concentrated close to the road and up ahead two Cheetahs crossed the road. Further along we came across 10 Lions on a Buffalo kill, and while watching this scene a huge male Leopard crossed the road about fifty yards up ahead. It was a remarkable game drive - for which Moremi is well known for'.
Arguably the most beautiful reserve in Africa there is no better way to explore Moremi than on a mobile safari, where camping in some spectacular locations adds to the already amazing experience. The mobile safari campsites of Moremi are mostly situated along the Khwai River and it is not unusual to share the space with Elephants and Hippos.
Moremi is a year round destination for a mobile safari, with the wildlife as spectacular from one season to the next. The birding is certainly better during the rainy summer months when the migrants have arrived from the north, but the winter months are prolific for wildlife.
There are many who claim that the dry winter months are the ultimate mobile safari experience in Moremi, but the lush summer rainy season provides a different, but as enticing wilderness experience.
All the large predators found in Botswana are found in the Moremi and include lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Buffalo and Elephant are prolific, and it is thought that Moremi has the highest population of these two species. Moremi is also a refuge for the endangered African Wild Dog, with the highest numbers found here.
The water loving Lechwe are common and the shy and elusive Sitatunga may also be seen. Giraffe, Hippo, Zebra as well as the rare Sable and Roan antelopes are also found in Moremi.
