Mobile Camping Safari Experience
It is often said that the best way to experience Africa is to feel her dust between your toes and camp out in the wild to be part of the sounds and scents - with this Mobile Camping Safari Package you are sure to get it all.
The campsites are chosen to enhance the wild Africa experience and the wildlife guides will share their expertise with you. Activities such as game drives and boat cruises, coupled with makoro outings ensure that your mobile safari will be the most memorable travel holiday ever.
Added to all this is some of the best game viewing on the continent and the most pristine habitats to further enhance the experience. This Botswana holiday package showcases the incredible diversity of a truly fascinating country.
Day 1: Johannesburg - Livingstone (Zambia)
Today you will fly from Johannesburg to Livingstone Airport in Zambia from where you will be transferred to your chalet for an overnight.
The afternoon will be spent at leisure, exploring the Victoria Falls or walking around the curio shops.
Day 2: Livingstone - Kasane, Chobe Area
This morning you will be transferred from Livingstone to Kasane over the Zambezi River by ferry, clearing customs and immigration on both sides, to a bush camp in Kasane where your Lion Tracking mobile safari will start. Here you will be met by a guide and transferred to your mobile camp in the Chobe region.
After a detailed briefing about the safari ahead, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive along the river where you can see some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in Africa.
Day 3 - 4: Kasane - Nxai Pan
Today you leave early and travel south to Nxai Pan National Park, stopping for lunch en-route before reaching our campsite in the park. There will be time for an afternoon game drive as an introduction to this little-known area. Not part of the general safari itinerary this park can be considered one of the hidden gems of Botswana.
During your stay here you will also visit Baines' Baobabs, a famous landmark for travellers throughout history. Nxai Pan is part of the Makgadikgadi system and the wildlife that inhabits the park has adapted to more arid survival than the animals in the northern parks. Dinner is cooked on an open fire and enjoyed under the African stars.
Day 5: Nxai Pan - Maun
There will be time for one last early morning game drive, before leaving for Maun which is known as the gateway to the Okavango.
Here you will have the opportunity to shop and stock up on supplies for your onward journey. This is very important if you are self-driving as it is your last chance to stock up on fuel, because there are no fuel stations in the Reserve.
You will spend the night in Maun at a comfortable campsite.
Day 6-7: Maun - Okavango Delta
Today your tour drives to the edge of the Okavango Delta where you will transfer your equipment to boats and cruise the pristine waterways and floodplains of this incredible area. The guides ensure that your experience leaves indelible memories.
Activities during your stay include boat cruises, makoro rides and walks on the islands of the Okavango Delta. There is something special about camping out in the Okavango with the sounds of the night lulling you to sleep and being woken by the dawn chorus in full voice.
Day 8: Okavango Delta - Maun
Today you have a choice of taking a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta to Maun or driving overland.
The flight is optional but it is highly recommended for the unique perspective of the Okavango it gives you from the air. If you choose the flight you will have time to relax at your bush camp until early afternoon when the planes arrive.
You will overnight in Maun at a comfortable campsite.
Days 9-11: Maun - Moremi Game Reserve
Your next 3 nights are spent in the Moremi Game Reserve where you search the floodplains and woodlands for the wildlife that makes this area so special.
Regarded by many as the most beautiful part of Africa the Moremi truly lives up to its reputation. Morning and afternoon game drives explore the hidden wonders of the area.
Days 12-15: Moremi - Chobe National Park
Your next few nights are divided between Savute and Chobe River as you experience the diversity of the Chobe National Park. Both these areas are renowned for their wildlife with the Chobe River boasting the largest concentration of Elephants in Africa.
You explore the Savute area on game drives that wend their way along the life-giving channel and along the edge of the Marsh. The Chobe River floodplains are experienced in game drives and boat cruises which allow a unique perspective of the animals that come down to drink.
