Overview

Our Wilderness Spectacular Safari tour from Linyanti to the Okavango takes you from the Linyanti region where your camp overlooks a beautiful ox bow lake in the Linyanti River. This region is known for its large numbers of Elephants, Sable and Roan Antelope as well as Hippo and Crocodiles.

From the Linyanti wilderness, you move on to the magical Okavango. The Okavango Delta is characterized by lush reed fringed waterways and secluded islands. Here you can drift through the maze-like channels of the Delta in a traditional Mokoro and slip past animals feeding at the water's edge of the palm islands.

This Botswana tour will also take you to the beautiful Vumbura region of the Okavango known for its vast herds of Buffalo, which are closely shadowed by Lion prides. The area also has a thriving population of Waterbuck.

Day 1: Linyanti

Welcome to Botswana - You will be met and greeted on arrival in Maun, before catching a scheduled flight into the Linyanti region, in Northern Botswana. You will be accommodated at a luxurious bush camp, which overlooks the lagoons and the Linyanti River system. You will start your stay with a light lunch followed by some time to relax before setting out on an afternoon game drive across the floodplains. You may see Impala and Lechwe as well as big game such as Buffalo and Giraffe. You will stop off in a scenic spot for sundowners while watching the spectacular African sunset. You return to camp for a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Linyanti

After an early morning wake-up call, you will enjoy another game drive or a bush walk to explore the surrounding floodplains and Islands. This is a great opportunity to see smaller animals such as Vervet Monkey's, Warthogs and Baboons. The walks are also good for birding enthusiasts. You may see many species, as the region is internationally recognized for its birds.Notable species include Bateleur and Black-Breasted Snake Eagles. You will return to camp for a brunch before your afternoon rest on your safari holiday. After lunch, you will enjoy either a game drive or a boating trip (if water levels are high enough) down the Linyanti River. This is a wonderful way to see the animals of the region. You will see many Hippo and animals that come down to drink.

Day 3: Linyanti - Okavango Delta

Today you will catch a light aircraft to the Vumbura region of the Delta where you will stay for your next 2 nights. It is here where the vast dry wilderness of Botswana meets the Okavango Delta providing a wide variety of habitats and wildlife.Here you will enjoy game drives and exploring the channels of the Okavango on Mokoro trips, as well as walks on the palm islands.

Day 4: Okavango Delta

In the morning, you could set off on a guided walk to explore the Vumbura floodplain on which you may see huge herds of Buffalo. Afterwards, you will return to camp for a sumptuous brunch and a rest. In the afternoon, you may set out on an afternoon game drive during which you will enjoy sundowners. This will be followed by a night game drive that allows you to see some of the Delta's nocturnal inhabitants.

Day 5: Fly-in Moremi Game Reserve

Today you will fly from the Northern Okavango on a short scenic flight to your next bush camp in the Moremi Game Reserve within central Okavango Delta. Here you will enjoy seeing a wide diversity of species and some of the best game viewing in Africa. Herds of Red Lechwe are common as are large numbers of big game.This area is also known for its number of predators, so you are sure to have good sightings of Lions and Hyenas when you are out on your twice-daily game drives.

Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve

Once again, you will enjoy exciting safari activities. You could set off to explore the lagoons and islands in a Mokoro. In the flood season, this can happen right in front of the bush camp. Safari holidays offer excellent game viewing. This is also one of the only areas within the Delta where you might possibly see Rhino, as there has been a Rhino reintroduction program.

Day 7: Okavango Delta - Maun - Johannesburg

After one final early morning game drive and a delicious breakfast, you fly out of the central Okavango Delta and back to Maun before catching onward connecting flights.
