Days 1 - 3: Kings Pool, Linyanti Botswana

Upon your arrival in Maun, and after clearing Botswana customs and immigration, you will be met by a representative and assisted onto your scheduled charter flight to Kings Pool. The flight takes in a great variety of the wilderness areas of northern Botswana from floodplains to permanent channels and arid savanna.

Kings Pool is made up of nine canvas and thatch rooms that look out over the Linyanti River and the Kings Pool Lagoon. Each room has a lounge, private plunge pool and sala to relax during the siesta time. The camp is raised on wooden platforms and walkways allowing animals free movement.

Kings Pool is renowned for its hides where guests can enjoy close up views of elephants and other animals as they come down to drink. One hide is situated close to camp to allow guests to spend siesta time watching game.

Game viewing is excellent at Kings Pool with high predator population and during the dry season vast numbers of elephants and other game concentrates on the permanent waters of the Linyanti. This area is arguably the most underrated safari area in Africa.

Days 4 & 5: Vumbura Plains, Okavango, Botswana

Today you will depart via aircraft to Vumbura Plains situated on the northern side of the Okavango Delta. It is here where the vast dry wilderness of Botswana meets the Okavango Delta providing a wide variety of habitats and wildlife. Vumbura Plains is made up of two camps each with their own dining rooms and kitchens. The rooms are spacious and airy and each room has a private plunge pool and sala for relaxing during the heat of the day.

The diversity at Vumbura can be explored on a variety of activities including game drives, night drives, boating, makoros and walking safaris. It is here on the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta where most of the bird and mammal species occurring in northern Botswana can be seen.

Days 6 - 8: Mombo, Botswana

On this day of your African safari in Botswana you fly to the legendary Mombo in the Moremi Game Reserve where you spend three nights. Mombo is renowned for its predator interaction and great diversity of wildlife. The scene of many natural history documentaries Mombo will never fail to awe.

Mombo is made up of 9 spacious and luxurious tents that look out over a floodplain that usually has a great deal of wildlife. The tents and walkways are raised above the ground allowing animals free range. Next door to the main camp, and connected by boardwalk is the 6-bedded Little Mombo – identical in look and feel to the main camp, only more intimate.

Due to its location at the top end of Chief’s Island the floodplains of Mombo are very nutritious and attract wildlife in great numbers. Predators including lion, hyena and leopard are regulars on the game drives. Mombo is also the area of the very successful rhino reintroduction programme.

Days 9 & 10: Jao Camp, Okavango Botswana

Leaving Mombo you will fly over some dramatic Okavango scenery to Jao Camp where you will spend the next two nights. Vast floodplains provide some of the most dramatic scenery in Botswana and Jao is situated on the edge of these floodplains in an area of islands and riverine forests.

Nine spacious canvas and thatch rooms are located on raised platforms in the canopy of shady trees and provide wonderful views across the floodplains of the delta. Each room has a sala and there are massage therapies available at the main lodge.

Activities at Jao include makoros, boating, fishing, walking, birding and day and night game drives. Due to the seasonal variances of the Okavango Delta the activities may vary slightly through the year but in general all activities are offered year round.

Day 11: Depart

After a morning activity you will depart Jao Camp in time to catch your connecting flight from Maun. Airport.

All charters have been booked on a seat on charter basis. Due to the nature of travel in light aircraft, mainly because of safety and space concerns, baggage is restricted to 20 kilograms (44 pounds), per person. This baggage must be soft sided so to allow for it to be packed properly.

If you do have extra bags or have suitcases heavier than the specified allowance, please advise your Siyabona Africa travel consultant as soon as the booking is made so that the needed arrangements can be made for the baggage to be transferred or stored at an additional cost.
