Introduction:

The striking land and water safari experience in the Okavango Delta, Xakanaxa, is renown for its big lagoons and notoriously big game. It is situated inside the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, which is rated as an excellent game viewing area. Lion, Leopard, Elephant and Buffalo are permanent residents of the region. The game drives in this sector of Moremi takes you down winding tracks, through mopane forests and across lush grasslands.The waterways are either traversed by vehicles or crossed on rustic log bridges. The Xakanaxa camp faces out over the Xakanaxa Lagoon on the Khwai River, where boat trips explore the winding channels of the Delta, one of Africa's greatest natural wonders.

Activities:

Xakanaxa offers all year round boating trips, as well as adventurous 4x4 drives into magnificent game country. The Moremi Reserve is rated as one of Africa's finest game-viewing areas, offering sanctuary to ample herds of Elephant, Sable, Giraffe, Tsessebe, Lechwe, Wildebeest, Impala and Waterbuck. Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild dog and Hyena can also be spotted.
Birdingwatching is quite exciting, especially during spring and summer when the migrants breed. Breeding storks and herons are attracted to the world-famous heronries which lies to the north of the lodge. Other birds that can be spotted include two species of jacanas, seven species of heron -goliath, purple, squacco, green-backed, black-headed, rufous-headed & grey - spoonbills, storks, sacred ibis and buttonquails, chats, blue-cheeked and carmine bee-eaters.
Fishing during the summer will produce Bream (Tilapia) and Tiger fish for a lucky few. Nature walks on nearby islands. Two activities per day are offered, or even an all-day outing can be arranged.

Accessibility:

The Xakanaxa Camp is accessible by either road or air. The nearest town is Maun which lies 130km away along 4x4 terrain. A flight from Maun in a single-engined aircraft will take round about 25 minutes and offers stunning Delta vistas.

Situated 50kms west of the Khwai River and within the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Okavango Delta, Northern Botswana lies Xakanaxa Camp.

Camp Moremi:

Camp Moremi is situated on the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon in the heart of the Okavango. Camp Moremi accommodates 22 guests in East African-style safari tents, individually situated on raised wooden platforms. Each tent is exquisitely furnished. Each tent has its own private bathroom situated adjacent to the tent and located on the raised platform.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives by open 4x4 safari vehicle, exciting bird-watching, exploring the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surrounding Okavango channels by powerboat.
